DEPARTMENT OF THE AIR FORCE REVIEW OF HUMAN RADIATION This report is a follow-up to our initial report of 15 February 1994. In addition to the cumulative summary of all studies identified (Atch I),the following additional information has surfaced since our first report: Reference PART 1, Item c: Human Systems Center--Armstrong Laboratory at Brooks AFB, TX reported 4 additional operational studies and Crew Systems Branch at Wright Patterson AFB reported 3 additional operational studies Summary Reports of studies are attached (Atch 2). Reference PART 1, Item e: Air Force Materiel Command (AFMC)--we received additional information on potential collaborative studies in the late 1950's and early 1960's involving the Aeromedical Research Laboratory (AMRL) at Wright Patterson AFB, OH and the Miami Valley Hospital of Dayton Ohio. This collaborative effort was first identified through the review of AF Radioisotope Committee records. Although this study is not yet confirmed, information obtained by AFMC through interviews with an investigator from the Miami Valley Hospital (Atch 3) seems to indicate subjects were accrued to the study. Reference PART I, item i: Geophysics Laboratory, Hanscomb AFB--we have received copies of the AEC reports on this research and through interviews with personnel involved have confirmed that this study was initiated at the request of You will note under column 2 of the spreadsheet (Atch 1) we have added the categories (a - e) as defined in the ASTD(AE) memo of 31 Jan 94. An updated bibliography to replace the one positioned as Appendix 2 to the initial report is also provided (Atch 5). As we accrue additional information we will provide this to you.
