Archive description
This is part of some correspondence dated February 1, 1966, that refers to the progress in the stripping of Alpha 5 in various areas. It also lists the janitorial project work, progress, and increase in their area of service. In addition, it mentions the sale of mixed metal, largely ferrous, containing some Alpha 5 scrap and nickel which was entirely Alpha 5 material. The mixed scrap price ($1.39+ cents per pound) was noted as being slightly better than any received since General Plant Maintenance had the responsibility for separation of scrap metals. Another piece of correspondence was included relating to the disposal of classified waste dated July 5, 1973. It confirmed that the mercury-contaminated solid wastes belonging to Bendix could be buried at Y-12. The amount of material, funding arrangements, and responsibility of Bendix on shipping classified material were discussed.
