Lange's vor k with lieLa cells siiould be of consider aLle value here. One ninor concern thatI have is that iieLa cells are clearly pathologic,:: and It rust that s one parallel work will be done with normal cells.I could not be sure from the protocol whether the mamaliar, cells mentioned i n paragraph 1.d on page 4were norn al cells or not.Ian not familiar with plan aria but from what little I do know, I would feel that Dr. Lanze's work i s well worth while. The interplay between plan arian.differentiated and sten cells is an important Sio1o;ic phenomenon and appears to provide a ratner clear - cut way of studying feedback mechanisns as related to pro l if - e rating stem cells. Is this situation perhaps a very crude analogy to that between the maiimalian erythrocyte and e ry throb last ? synthesis in rp ogress ion through tlis cell cycle in presses ne as likely to provide important information as to in vivo protein synthesis. I have i n mind the fact that the study of clones of HeLa cells
