Archive description

Production of plastic phosphor blocks was completed for Teabag and continues for Teapot. The first Teabag detector and cage assembly has been completed and testing and calibration are under way. Details of the equipment and construction necessary for the alpha measurement on the small weapons are being settled. Scheduling for the operation was done and is contained in COL-4606. Details of the equipment and construction necessary for Linda diagnostics are largely settled. Scheduling for the operation was done and is contained in COL-4444. Photomultiplier current characteristics continue under study. Possibly more current can be obtained from a 6342 photomultiplier than was previously thought possible. A study of the Dumont structure as typified by the Type 6292 photomultiplier has been commenced. The calibration techniques using large Cobalt 60 sources are under examination. Without a large current accelerator available this appears to be the only method of calibration left for this group to use.
